846,809. Roller conveyers. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE A.G. Sept. 9, 1958 [Sept. 10, 1957], No. 28918/58. Class 78 (1). In a direct electrical resistance heating plant for rod-shaped metallic bodies, the rods h are fed to the plant by a roller conveyer a disposed above and to one side of it and are discharged at regular intervals on to a slide k down which they slide on to a series of stationary positioners d and pivoted transfer elements e disposed between the parts i of the heater. Each member e is coupled to a pivoted carrier arm c provided with a lining f of heat and electrical insulating material. Each arm c is actuated by an hydraulic drive g, or a mechanical or pneumatic drive. At first the bar occupies the position shown in Fig. 2. Actuation of the device ,g raises the arm c to bring its end into engagement with the bar to raise it into the position shown in Fig. 1. When the heating process is completed, the arm c is lowered, thereby turning the member e downwards to such an extent that the bar slides down it on to the lower roller conveyer b. |
