In appts. for levitated guidance of a moving product web or strip, the novelty is that the web or strip (1) enters upwardly into the appts. from below, undergoes directional change from upwards to downwards by means of one or more diverters (2) while in the levitated state within the appts. and then leaves the appts. in the downward direction. Pref. the web or strip (1) is levitated by gas streams from gas nozzles (2,3). USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for drying or heat treating textile webs, thin foils or metal strips. The appts. avoids the great length, the danger of fold formation and the atmos. sepn. and sealing problems of prior art appts. employing linear horizontal guidance of the webs or strips.
