Laminated thermoplastics container for storing hydrocarbons (I) has at least a relatively thick outer layer (II) of thermoplastics material with good mechanical properties and thinner inside layer (III) of thermoplastics material, suitable for surface treatment to increase its impermeability for (I). (III) consists of pure polyolefin(s), pref. HDPE. Pref. (II) and (III) consist of polyolefins, e.g. homopolyethylene. (III) is free from pigments and other additives or contains max. 1.3 g/kg hydroxyaromatic cpd(s). with sterically hindered OH gps. (III) is made from a powder, which is not melted during the mixing stage. The content of volatile cpds. in (III) is max. 1700 mg/kg on thermal desorption under an He stream at 275 deg.C. (III) contains less than 9 g/kg fraction soluble in boiling hexane and less than 42 g/kg fraction soluble in boiling heptane. (II) is 1-20mm thick and (III) 10 microns to 1mm thick. USE/ADVANTAGE - The container is used as fuel container for an automobile (claimed). It can also be used for containers for aircraft or helicopters, canisters, tanks, various cans, etc. The container has the required mechanical properties and can be impregnated efficiently and at lower cost than usual.
