A belt guiding assembly (10) with a drive motor is positioned in a machining point (520 on the machine frame (30). A handling mechanism or a robot workpiece support (56) feeds the workpiece under program control to the grinding assembly machining point. The grinding assembly with its drive motor (12) is fitted on an assembly support (22), movable under pressure of the workpiece (50) against an adjustable force of a counter-holder (60) w.r.t. the machine frame.
