PURPOSE:To provide a gamma-alumina catalyst carrier with a honeycomb structure prevented from breaking by controlling the moisture of a molded honeycomb in the manufacturing process of the catalyst carrier in which a mixture of gamma-alumina powder and a binder is kneaded, molded, dried, and sintered. CONSTITUTION:Cake of alumina hydrate which is produced by filtering and washing alumina hydrate slurry is kneaded with heating. The alumina hydrate, after being extrusion-molded into a form to be pulverized easily in a pulverization step, is sintered. The sintered compact is pulverized and classified to obtain gamma-alumina powder. The powder incorporated with a binder and an appropriate amount of water, after being plasticized by kneading, is extruded into a honeycomb molded product. In the sintering of the product, the moisture of the product is controlled to obtain the gamma-alumina support with a honeycomb structure prevented from breaking. |
