Active antenna with electronic beam sweeping - controls magnetic coupling between central antenna element and two lateral elements to alter beam direction

The antenna system has at least three flat antenna elements (1,2,3) coupled in a plane H. The central antenna element (1) radiates in a set mode and has a source of excitation (4) that emits a beam. The two lateral antenna elements (2,3) are placed on either side of the central element and radiate in the set mode. The lateral antenna elements are coupled magnetically by mutual inductance to the central element. The magnetic coupling can be controlled by altering the resonant frequency of the lateral elements. The altered coupling controls the direction of the beam emitted by the central element. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simply constructed, with reliable control of sweep of antenna beam.
