PURPOSE:To provide an antiviral agent useful for curing viral infections, esp. infections by HIV. CONSTITUTION:The antiviral agent containing, as active ingredient, LFA-3 or analogue (s) thereof, a cell surface protein, cell-adhesive protein distributed over many organs. The LFA-3 molecule which has been known is made up of, starting from its N-terminal, (1) immunoglobulin-like domain 1 (D1 domain), (2) immunoglobulin-like domain 2 (D2 domain), (3) membrane-penetrating domain rich in hydrophobic amino acids (TM domain) and (4) relatively short cytoplasmic domain (C domain). The human LFA-3 molecule has also been known which has D1 domain and D2 domain and is bound to membrane through glycosyl phosphatidylinositol. The human LFA-3 or analogues thereof can be obtained by solubilizing human-derived cells or human erythrocytes using an enzyme or surfactant followed by purification by an affinity chromatography using anti-LFA-3 antibody. |
