PURPOSE:To provide nonmagnetic single crystalline Mn-Zn ferrite suitable for use as a slider for a floating magnetic head with satisfactory workability and mass productivity. CONSTITUTION:Polycrystalline ferrite and single crystalline ferrite are brought into contact with each other and heated to grow the crystal of the single crystalline ferrite in the direction of the polycrystalline ferrite by a solid phase reaction. The resulting single crystalline ferrite has a compsn. within the range defined by the area surrounded by four point in mol% A (Fe2O3 40: MnO 10: ZnO 50), B (Fe2O3 40: MnO 35: ZnO 25), C (Fe2O3 70: MnO 5: ZnO 25), D (Fe2O3 70: MnO 2: ZnO 28) and E (Fe2O3 48: MnO 2: ZnO 50). |
