The clamping device (1) which holds the glass panel in position is formed so that its contact pressure on the holding area of the panel does not change when the temp. changes, even if these temp. changes alter the thickness of the holding area. The distance between the clamping jaws of the clamping device is reduced or increased when the thickness of the holding area reduces or increases as a result of the intermediate layers in or on the glass panel increasing or decreasing whilst the contact pressure remains the same. The clamping device has components with different thermal expansion coeffts. such as bimetal components. The clamping jaws can be connected by a bolt and sleeve using an expansion part with a greater expansion coefficient. USE/ADVANTAGE - Glass panels in a building are securely held in all temp. ranges even in the event of a fire.
