A mechanism (50) and method for conveying a cassette (20), or similar like article, from a support surface into an adjacent apparatus. The mechanism (50) comprising:a first pinch roller assembly (52) having a central axis about which the first pinch roller (52) rotates; a second pinch roller assembly (54) having a central axis about which the second pinch roller assembly (54) rotates; a mechanism (50) for moving the first and second pinch roller assemblies (52),(54) toward each other so as to engage a cassette (20) therebetween with a predetermined amount of biasing force; and a motor for rotating the first and second pinch roller assemblies (52),(54) manner about their respective axis so as to move the cassette (20) from and/or on to the support surface. <IMAGE>
