Around the toolholder end (3) of the machine cylinder (1), in the region of the end bush (4) and striker piston (2), is a plastics elastomer cap (6) to suppress noise and protect the hand against heat. The cap is attached only by an internal bead (9) which fits in a circumferential groove (8) around the machine cylinder. An air gap between the cap and cylinder is produced by diameter reduction (11) of the cylinder and/or opening out of the muff bore. The cap is shaped and sized so the user can use their second hand to hold it. ADVANTAGE - Reduced noise. Greater operator safety and comfort.
