PURPOSE:To provide a highly reliable sealing method for a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:A gold wire 4, which electrically connects a photodetector element with an external lead 3, is protected with charged transparent silicon resin 8, and is sealed with transparent glass 9. A ceramic base 2 is provided with a glass receiving base 10, which prevents the transparent glass 9 from contacting with the gold wire 4. As a result, space is charged with the transparent silicon resin 8, so the occurrence of dew by the temperature change can be prevented after sealing, and also since the gold wire 4 is fixed and protected by the transparent silicon resin 8, the breaking of the gold wire 4 does not occur even by vibration, etc., and a highly reliable product can be supplied.
