PURPOSE:To prevent that the secondary side is laid in the opened state by the runaway because of the connection of a regulated number or more of neon tubes or the breakage of the neon tubes to generate an abnormal overvoltage and overcurrent. CONSTITUTION:A DC voltage is converted into a high frequency power such as 20kHz or 30kHz by an inverter 14, and supplied to the primary coil 16 of a transformer 15. A neon tube is connected between both ends 18, 19 of the secondary coil 17 of the transformer 15, and lighted at high frequency. A saturable reactor 21 is connected between both ends 18, 19 of the secondary coil 17. As the saturable reactor 21, a one showing constant voltage characteristic of a voltage higher by about 20 percents of the rated voltage between the terminals 18, 19 is used. |
