PURPOSE:To efficiently reduce NOx by capturing and burning particulates while reducing NOx, and supplying reduction agent of a proper amount according to an operation condition of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst filter 14 is integrated with a ceramic porous material for capturing particulates, and a honeycomb ceramic carrier for reducing NOx. In addition, a backwash nozzle 15 and a particulate burning chamber 51 having a heater 52 are provided. Further, an injection nozzle 18 is operated for injecting hydrocarbon-derived reduction agent 21 to the catalyst filter. A controller 30 injects the reduction agent from the nozzle 18 and efficiently reduces NOx based on detection outputs of an exhaust temperature sensor 34, an engine load sensor 33, an engine speed sensor 31 and an exhaust pressure sensor 36. The particulates are dropped from the filter by means of the backwash nozzle to the burning chamber 51, and burned by the heater 52. |
