The mechanism includes two rear feet (11) extended in a rigid manner from the framework (12) of the seat back. Each rear foot is secured to the floor (15) of the vehicle (16) by a release mechanism (31, 32), and hinged to the seat frame (8) along the horizontal axis (1). The links (10, 20) are hinged to the seat frame and the floor at the points (25, 27 and 21,24). The link (18) is hinged to the seat back at the point (26) and to the floor at the point (27). The distance (Y) is approximately ten times the distance (X). To fold the seat, the mechanism (31, 32) is released, and the seat pushed forward, the front of the seat frame dropping until the frame is vertical, and the seat back moving forward and rising, remaining upright, until the link (18) becomes upright. USE/ADVANTAGE - The seat stows compactly against, e.g. the seat in front of it, and provides maximum floor space.
