A plug for electrically connecting a plurality of insulated wire ends has a housing in two parts which consists of an inner part (16) which may be slid into the rearwardly open chamber (29) of a prism-shaped outer part (15), in the manner of a drawer. The inner part (16) contains a plurality of closely adjacent channels parallel to each other and to a flat face (27) of the outer part. The insulated wire ends may be inserted each into one of said channels. In its front area which begins at its flat face, the outer part (15) has a plurality of transverse slots. When both parts are nested into each other, each transverse slots opens into one of the channels of the inner part (16). In the transverse slots (48) are arranged contact lamellas (49) which may be pressed into the channels by a manual pressing device. They thus pierce the insulation of the wire ends and contact their copper core. At the same time, the contact lamellas form the contacts of the plug at the flat face (27) of the plug. The advantage of this housing in two parts is that the outer part (15), which is the most expensive component of the plug, may be used with wires of any diameter. Only the various inner parts, which differ only by the width of the channels, need to be made available separately. The wire ends may be more easily threaded, as they may be threaded while the inner part (16) is not yet inserted into the outer part (15) and the openings of the channels are not yet covered. This plug is preferably used as a data plug. |
