<p>A method and apparatus for producing a composition for control of organisms that are dependent, directly or indirectly, upon nitrogen fixation is disclosed in which the effective control ingredient of the composition is molybdenum or tungsten ions. Such metal ions, for example produced in water, are toxic to pests such as termites or shipworms. The apparatus includes an electronic circuit (62) that periodically reverses current to electrodes (56, 58) made of molybdenum, tungsten, or alloys thereof, the electrodes (56, 58) being positioned adjacent to a conduit (28) for conducting water therethrough.</p> |
