<p>PURPOSE:To economically mass-produce thermosetting pieces curved in a desired form, by cutting off a soft foamed slab, coating one side of the cut-off piece with a thermosetting resin which has not completely reacted yet, and causing the resin to react in a curved mold. CONSTITUTION:A soft foamed slab is cut off to a piece 1 of prescribed dimensions. The bottom of the piece 1 is coated with a liquefied thermosetting resin 2 which is mixed with a hardener and has not completely reacted yet. The piece 1 is placed between an upper and a lower molds 3, 4 which have such curved surfaces that the piece 1 should be worked into a desired shape. The resin 2 is then thermally set at a high temperature or room temperature. At that time, pressure on the resin may be as low as about 0.1kg/cm<2>. When a prescribed setting time has elapsed, the upper and the lower molds 3, 4 are separated from the piece 1. A soft foamed slab piece 1'' coated with the thermally set resin 2 on the bottom is picked out. The piece 1'' has such a curved shape that its bottom is contracted but its top is expanded.</p> |
