CONSTITUTION:When the exchange coupling magnetic layer 12 is heated by the high power light beam converged so that the irradiation intensity in the radial direction of the disk displaces gradually, the circumference of the domain is initialized covering a wide range simultaneously the domain is formed separately from initialization by the beam with low power. Then, the occurrence of an erasure omission area is prevented at the time of the overwrite replacing a minimum domain Dmin with a maximum domain Dmax and forming by converging the beam so that the range Wi becomes larger than the width WDmax of the maximum domain always.
