<p>PURPOSE:To discriminate between a road side reflector and a vehicle reflector. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam is emitted from a projector 1 and swept in the forward direction of a vehicle, and the laser beam reflected from a reflector is received. A distance measuring circuit 3 calculates the distance to the nearest reflector on the basis of propagation delay time from emission of the laser beam to reception of the reflected beam. The distance measured value is input by the distance measuring circuit 3 to a signal processor 4, which identifies a road side reflector according to whether or not the measured value is a minimum peak value. The distance to the road side reflector is then calculated and the radius of curvature of the road on which the vehicle is running is calculated, so as to determine whether or not running along a curve at current speed is allowed.</p> |
