A laundry dryer has a fan (12) for conveying heated process air via a condenser (10) through a laundry drum, and a condensate collecting container (15), which can be taken out and is located in the bottom section. The container (15) is connected to a stationary sump container (13), via a pipe connection (14). The sump container (13) features a condensate collecting opening (16), which is connected to a process air duct point at which overpressure prevails. Means are provided for preventing return flow. ADVANTAGE - The condensate collection container permits collecting and holding bigger amounts of water than in previous installations.
