The system consists of circulating paddles (1), which are held on a block chain (2). The paddles move in a tangential circuit about two pinions (3). The paddles are always in a vertical position due to controlled guidance. This may be carried out by one or two further block chains, link guides, or a combination of the two. The guidance shortens the immersion and lifting times of a paddle, so that it passes through a linear movement in between. The complete height of the system is considerably lower than for a paddle wheel. The number of blades is variable for various uses.
