The liquid crystal display is mfd. by forming a segment electrode (3) and a common electrode (4) on transparent glass substrates (1,5), covering an oriented film (7) on the electrodes and rubbing it to divide a sealant (8) pattern into a detect portion (16) and a display portion (17), jointing the glass substrates, pouring a phase transition temp.-dependent cholesteric liquid crystal into the detect portion (16) and a required liquid crystal into the display portion (17), and bonding polarizing plates (6,14) on the glass substrates (1,5). The display prevents a bonding liquor damage of the polarizing plates at the high temp. and a display instability.
