Lens plug for connecting optical fibres - has single-piece moulding of transparent plastics material, with protruding tip parts for each fibre
摘要
The plug has a one-piece, transparent, plastic moulding (FT). This has a first (St1) and a second (St2) surface. The first surface (St1) has a tip (K1..K4) for each wave guide (L1..L2). The second surface (St2) has a hole (St1..S'4) for each wave guide. Each wave guide (L1..L4) has a protective cladding (SM). Each hole (SL) has an inner, smaller diameter section an outer larger diameter section. The diameters of the sections are matched to the diameters of the wave guides or their cladding such that the guides are tightly held in the holes (SL). The waveguides (L) are pushed right into the holes (SL). Any gap remaining between the ends (E1..E4) of the wave guides and the base of the holes (SL) is filled with a medium of suitable refractive index. Each tip (K1..K4) is formed and arranged in relation to the base of the respective hole (SL) such that a beam emitted from the tip (K) is focussed into the end (E) of the respective wave guide (L). USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in optical data transmission. Simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
