Class 112 In a circular linking machine the frame supporting the point dial 12 also supports a head 14 carrying either the linking needle or the looper, the arrangement of the frame being such that the space directly above the point dial is unobstructed. The frame comprises a column 10, which may be either stationary or be rotatably supported on a pedestal, and a hollow L-shaped arm secured to the column at 17. The rising limb 19 of the arm carries the head 14. A rockable frame 27 mounted in the head is oscillated by a connecting rod 25. The needle lever with its needle 16 is reciprocated in the frame 27 by a second connecting rod 23. The looper 29 is disposed within and below the upper face of the point dial. A cover plate, which may be transparent; may be provided at 30. The locations of the linking needle and the looper may be reversed. |
