MANAGEMENT METHOD FOR CONVERTER LINING REFRACTORIES

PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a furnace body while using scrap, to decrease the amt. of repair material and to reduce the cost of converter operation by calculating the position and amt. of the damage of lining refractories during operation and repairing the damage in accordance thereof in the converter operation using the scrap. CONSTITUTION:Acoustic sensors 3 are respectively disposed in the positions at >=4 points on the outside surface of the converter 1 and the acoustic signals generated by the scrap in the furnace are detected. These signals are inputted to a computing element 6 via a preamplifier 4. This computing element 6 calculates the position and amt. of the damage of the refractories 2 from the acoustic signals and the positional relations of the acoustic sensors and displays the position and amt. on a display device 5.
