WINDOW AND DOOR GRILLE APPARATUS

A detachable grille apparatus particularly suitable for use with windows and doors provides a single-light glass pane unit with the appearance of the true divided-light unit construction. One surface of the grille is configured to engage the inside facing surface of a glass pane. Such surface has a central portion designed to directly, uniformly engage the glass pane for projecting a solid, heavy image through the glass. A pair of side portions lying adjacent the central portion are configured to project zones of shadowed images through the glass which have graduated shading characteristics that closely resemble the glazing appearance of a true divided-light window. Means are provided for minimizing the entrapment of debris and insects adjacent the grille and for minimizing multiple reflections of the grille edge that appear when an edge is spaced from the glass pane.
