摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a display device having small power consumption by providing one or more display anodes for a pair of a cathode and an auxiliary anode, and providing the means for cathode temperature rise, auxiliary discharge generation, heating cutoff, operating temperature maintenance, and display anode drive. CONSTITUTION:When an exciting switch S is closed, a cathode filament is excited and heated by a power source 1 to the preset temperature. When the voltage of a power source V2 is kept at the discharge start voltage or above for a cathode, an arc luminescent spot is generated on the filament, and an auxiliary discharge occurs. The switch S is opened to save the cathode heating power immediately after the auxiliary discharge occurs. If the preset power is fed to V2, the auxiliary discharge is maintained, and part of the cathode is kept at the operating temperature during the display period thereafter. The voltage signal generated from the limiting resistor of an auxiliary discharge circuit is utilized to open the switch S, and switching is performed via a transistor.
