PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of spectral analysis by using a diamond specially cut so as to have a single bound as the internal surface reflecting element of a radiant energy spectroscope. CONSTITUTION: A radiant energy spectroscope is provided with a radiant energy source 3, a diamond 9 which works as an internal surface reflecting element, a sample 13 which is brought into contact with one face of the diamond 9, and optical systems 6 and 7 which emit radiant energy toward the diamond 9 and reflect the radiant energy reflected by the contacting surface of the diamond 9 with the sample 13 by one time of internal surface reflection.
