PURPOSE: To eliminate the half-tone aliasing problem of a printer. CONSTITUTION: The edge segmentation circuit 16 of a printer having a high two-dimensional address possibility performs printing by using either a half-tone executing method or threshold method by controlling an image processor. The circuit 16 compares inclined values of (x) and (y) extrapolated from an extrapolation circuit with prefixed inclined values of (x) and (y) stored in the X- and Y-registers 22 and 24 of the circuit 16. Based on the comparison, the circuit 16 inputs 1-bit edge segmentation information to an edge segmentation mode switch. Depending upon the binary value of the edge segmentation information, whether '0' or '1', the edge segmentation mode switch is switched to a half- toner or thresholder and printing is performed by using either the half-tone method or threshold method by controlling the image processor. |
