Shatter resistant laminated glazing for armoured vehicles has sheet of annealed or, thermal or chemically, tempered glass interleaved with a solid resin based layer (2). The glass sheet receiving the impact (1) is 4-10mm thick. The interleaved layer (2) is 1.5-10mm thick. The glass layer next to the cabin is 1-6mm thick (3) and covered with an anti-splinter layer (4) having elastic and energy absorption properties eg composite film of polyvinylbutyral and a layer of polyester coated with polysiloxane. USE/ADVANTAGE - Shatter and splinter proof glass for armoured vehicles. Gives very good resistance to shocks partic from shrapnel and ensures total protection to the occupants from glass splinters.
