<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a method for efficiently producing ethyl alcohol by synthesizing ethyl acetate from ethylene and acetic acid as raw materials in the vapor phase using a heteropoly acid salt as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The method for producing ethyl alcohol comprises reacting ethylene with acetic acid in the presence of a catalyst using a heteropoly acid salt, introducing the resultant ethyl acetate reactional gas 2 into a condenser 1, separating the gas into an uncondensed component 3 consisting essentially of the unreacted ethylene and a condensed component 4, then introducing the uncondensed component 3 into an absorption column 11, bringing the uncondensed component 3 into contact with an acetic acid solution 13 and, on the other hand, introducing the condensed component 4 into a hydrolytic reactor 21 filled in with an acidic catalyst 22.</p> |
