PURPOSE:To secure a vibration isolator that is able to make a vibrationproof characteristic variable and simple in structure. CONSTITUTION:A metallic intermediate cylinder 16 is set up in space between a metallic inner cylinder 14 and a metallic outer cylinder 12 segregatedly, and an electric responsive elastic body 18 whose elastic modulus is varied by an electric field is installed in space between the outer cylinder 12 and the intermediate cylinder 16 as well as between the intermediate cylinder 16 and the inner cylinder 14. Both these outer and inner cylinders 12 and 14 connect the minus side of a power source 22 and the intermediate cylinder 16 connects the plus side of this power source 22. Since a spring constant of this vibration isolator 10 is made variable according to size of the electric field, in the case where it is used as a suspension bush for an automobile, it is set to a low spring constant so that riding quality is thus securable, and on the other hand, it is set to a high spring constant, control stability is securable too. |
