PURPOSE:To selectively obtain the subject derivative useful as an intermediate, etc., for medicines, agri chemicals, etc., by reacting a specific mercaptoacetic acid derivative with a specific dihalogenopropionic acid derivative in the presence of a specific nitrogen compound. CONSTITUTION:A mercaptoacetic acid derivative of formula I [A is H or acyl; R1 is H, (substituted)alkyl or (substituted)phenyl; R2 is cyano, (substituted) alkoxycarbonyl, (substituted)phenoxy-carbonyl or (substituted)aminocarbonyl] is made to react with an alpha,beta-dihalogenopropionic acid derivative of formula II [R3 is cyano, (substituted)alkoxycarbonyl, etc.; R4 is H, halogen, (substituted) alkyl, nitro, etc.; X1 and X2 are halogen] in the presence of a nitrogen compound of formula III (R5 to R7 are H or alkyl) to provide the objective derivative of formula IV. |
