DETECTION OF OVERLAP PART OF STRIPLIKE MATERIALS

PURPOSE:To detect the overlap part of strip like materials. CONSTITUTION:At the time of the detection of the position where the rear end part of a preceding strip 1 and the leading end part of a succeeding strip 2 are mutually overlapped and connected in a process line continuously treating the strip like materials, the distances up to the upper surface of the strips are measured by first and second distance meters 4, 5 attached in the advance direction of the strips so as to provide a predetermined interval from the upper part of the line. The difference in level of the strips is judged by operation using two obtained measured values to determine the position of the overlap part of the strips to accurately and stably detect the overlap part of the strips.
