Electrovisquous liquids containing starch with a water content from 5 to 20 % by weight and ester compounds are disclosed, as well as a process for producing these eletrovisquous liquids. Also diclosed is the use of esters of branched aliphatic polyols with 2 to 6 hydroxyl groups and 2 to 32 C atoms and monocarboxylic acids with 2 to 32 C atoms as a non-electroconductive, hydrophobic liquid in such electrovisquous liquids. These electrovisquous liquids have a high electroreactivity, do not easily precipitate, are compatible with various materials and above all are very biodegradable.
