A spray dispenser (1) for fluids e.g hairsprays, lotions etc. is operated by air pressure or other suitable compressed gas and has a user operated self-closing spray valve (4). An external source of compressed air/gas is used to maintain the charge in the dispenser (1) supplied by a tube (6) at a point above the fluid surface (2) via a self-sealing non-return valve pair (5, 8). The container (7) may itself be the pre-filled external pressure source or may be the receiver of an electrically driven compressor (11) having a pressure limiting cut-off and which is connected by a similar self-sealing non-return valve pair (12, 13). A further tube (3) directs the ejected fluid to the spray valve (4). ADVANTAGE - Provides convenient and safe alternative to environmentally damaging CFC propellant type systems.
