For demodulating modulated carrier signals (AS) supplied to a cordless telecommunication apparatus, a data comparator (1212) is used for cordless information transmission, in particular DECT-specific information transmission. A reference signal (RS) generated by integrating the carrier signal (AS) is supplied to an input (E2) of the data comparator (1212) for demodulating the carrier signal (AS). Since according to the DECT transmission agreement, two identical binary values of a synchronisation word (S-BW) must be recognised besides the demodulation, a decision threshold (ES) of the reference signal (RS) is modified by an error value (dES). An additional compensating arrangement (16, 9, 142) which compensates said error value (dES) is therefore provided in the cordless telecommunication appliance.
