Separations using polyester or polyester copolymer membranes

Mixtures comprising two or more components selected from alcohols/ethers/non-linear hydrocarbons are separated using polyester or polyester copolymer membranes under pervaporation conditions. An embodiment comprises the separation of an alcohol, preferably a C1-C4 alcohol, from a synthesis solution used for the production of ethers, such as methyl-tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) or tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) used as octane enhancers in motor fuels.
