Use of polyacrylic esters of average molecular weight from 1500 to 20,000, which are obtainable by transesterification of alkyl polyacrylates which have been obtained by free-radical polymerization and whose alkyl radical contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms, with a) saturated or unsaturated aliphatic alcohols of 12 to 22 carbon atoms and b) if desired, additionally with dialkylaminoalkanols of the general formula HO-R<1>-NR<2>R<3>, in which R<1> is a divalent alkylene radical of 2 to 4 carbon atoms and R<2> and R<3> are identical or different and are alkyl radicals of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, the molar ratio of the aliphatic alcohols a) to the dialkylaminoalkanols b) being from 1 : 0 to 1 : 1.5, and components a) and b) being used in amounts such that from 25 to 70% of the ester groups are transesterified, said use being as dispersants for finely divided solids, especially fillers and pigments, in organic media.
