AMINE OXIDE PROCESS Tert-amine oxides that are substantially free of nitrosamines are made by reacting a tert-amine, e.g., dodecyl dimethylamine, with aqueous hydrogen peroxide in the presence of the synergistic combination of (a) ascorbic acid and (b) a promoter formed from carbon dioxide.
