The invention relates to a cake-cutting machine for cutting frozen cakes (tarts, pies). The top and bottom machine frame parts are connected by three vertically positioned round shafts. Two of these shafts are used to guide a conical part which can be moved vertically. The bottom of this conical part is provided with a recess for attaching the blade unit, and the top part is fixedly connected to a nut, in which a vertically positioned threaded spindle rotates. On the top side, this spindle is driven by means of an electric motor, via a toothed belt and two pulleys. A pressure cylinder is attached to the underside of the threaded spindle via a connecting rod and via a flexural coupling. This cylinder is used to press out the middle piece, which has been cut out all the way around, of the cake. After the blade unit has been introduced into the recess in the conical part, the driving components are completely separated and screened from the cake which is to be cut. Beneath the blade unit, there is a support plate and a pressure plate. Each of the plates is provided with three slots which correspond to the three vertically positioned round shafts, so that rapid centring of the said plates with respect to the blade unit is still guaranteed. The result is a high cutting accuracy.
