摘要 PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain hydrogen and oxygen at low cost by closely fitting the feeding bodies to double sides of the joining body of both an anion exchange membrane and an electrode contg. group VIII metals in the periodic table and electrolyzing water. CONSTITUTION:The electrodes are directly joined to the double sides of an anion exchange membrane having durability such as fluororesin by chemical plating. As this electrode, an alkali resistant metallic species selected from among group VIII metals in the periodic table, alloy contg. at least one kind of these metals and oxides thereof is utilized. Electrolysis of water is performed by utilizing the joining body obtained by such a way and closely fitting the feeding bodies to the double sides thereof. In this case, pure water is preferably supplied to a cathode side and an alkali aq. soln. is supplied to an anode side respectively. Hydrogen and OH<-> are produced from pure water in an anode and OH<-> is passed through the anion exchange membrane and reaches the anode and oxygen is generated therefrom. Thereby high-purity hydrogen and oxygen are efficiently obtained at low cost.
