The appts. comprises an assembly (16) of glass wedges (18,20) arranged to divide the incoming laser beam (12) into two paths along different routes (22,24). Each half of the beam passes over a wire mask (30,32). A shadow of the mask is projected onto a target card (34) placed in the beam as two half shadows (30,32) of the original mask. Alignment of the two half shadows indicates correct alignment of the laser beam. USE/ADVANTAGE - Applicable in telemetry and photographic appts. Simplified appts. for alignment of laser beams in optical data transmission and telecommunications.
