Cast part prodn. with shape detail - formed by use of prefabricated insert for forming e.g. threaded bore with end sealing face in pump housing

Prodn. of a shape detail of a cast part involves prefabricating an insert of the required shape and casting the part about the insert. Also claimed is a cast part with a shape detail produced by the above process, the material of the insert (4) pref. being weldable to the material of the cast part (1). Pref. the external surface of the insert (4) has ribs (5) which extend transversely to a sealing direction and which taper outwardly. USE/ADVANTAGE - Process if e.g. for forming a threaded bore with an end sealing face in a cast steel housing, e.g. a pump housing. Prodn. costs have reduced since prodn. of an insert, with small size and simple configuration, is easier than machining of a cast part.
