PURPOSE:To strictly prevent a situation that an entire fixing device and its peripheral equipment must be repaired or exchanged because of the overheat of the device so as to keep the damage of the device to the minimum and to suppress load in the cost of renewal parts and service cost to the minimum. CONSTITUTION:This image fixing device for an image forming device is provided with a heating element 17, a temperature detection means 19 detecting temperature in the vicinity of the heating element 17, a power source 30 supplying a current to the heating element 17, and a control means 31 controlling the current supplied from the power source 30 based on a signal from the means 19. The control means 31 is allowed to perform current control for fixing an image corresponding to the print signal of the image forming device and to perform precontrol before the current control for fixing the image. |
