PURPOSE:To build an optical fiber network for preventing the operation stop of a network during the new installation period of a node. CONSTITUTION:An exciting laser 1 is exciting a rare earth dope fiber 5 from both direction through 1X2 couplers 2, 3, and 4. An optical shutter 6 is arranged between the 1X2 couplers 3 and 4. Nodes n and m are connected to a rare earth dope fiber 5 through 3X3 couplers n and m. In case of installing a node anew, the cutting of the rare earth dope fiber 5 and the opening of the optical shutter 6 are to be performed at the same time, and the optical shutter 6 is closed at the same time with the completion of the connection of the 3X3 couplers n and m. |
