PURPOSE:To realize the fast feed reproduction with high picture quality by interleaving consecutive pictures with less change in the method where an interleaved picture is selected at fast feed reproduction by interleaving a displayed picture at a prescribed rate without changing a display time interval in the system realizing reproduction of a moving picture by displaying sequentially the picture at a prescribed time interval so as to keep smooth motion in the moving picture. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a similarity calculation section 103 calculating similarity between picture data, a maximum similarity detection section 104 detecting a maximum similarity among calculated similarity sets and outputting an interleaving control signal (d) to command the interleaving of the picture and a buffer display controller 105 interleaving the picture and displaying the result in response to the interleave control signal (d), and fast feed reproduction without discontinuous operation is realized by interleaving the part with higher similarity.
