PURPOSE:To determine xanthine which exists in a sample or activity of a substrate or an enzyme which participates in a reaction system producing xanthine using an enzyme having no xanthine oxidase activity, having no activity to adenosine, inosine, xanthosine, guanosine, adenine, guanine or thymidine and having activity which is not inhibited by these substrates and hypoxanthine and xanthine. CONSTITUTION:This enzyme exhibits no specificity of substrate to adenosine, inosine, xanthosine, guanosine, adenine, guanine and thymidine and has specificity of substrate to hypoxanthine and xanthine and catalyzes reactions capable of oxidizing hypoxanthine as a substrate to xanthine and producing reduction type NADs and/or reduction type NADs or oxidizing xanthine as a substrate to uric acid and producing reduction type NADs and/or reduction type thioNADs, utilizing NADs and/or thioNADs as a coenzyme. |
