摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To make the dynamic range of a photoelectric current narrower so as to improve the accuracy of a signal processing circuit by making the length of a photoelectric conversion element at a prescribed position when viewed from one side of the arranging direction of photoelectric conversion elements in the direction intersecting the arranging direction longer than that of the element at the preceding position of the element at the prescribed position. CONSTITUTION:An optical position detecting element is constituted by arranging a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements PD1PDn along a prescribed direction and coupling the elements PD1-PD5 to each other through resistors (r) having nearly the same resistance value and photoelectric current output terminals T1 and T2 are provided to the position detecting element. The length of the element PDi in a prescribed position when viewed from one side of the arrangement direction of the elements PD1-PDn, in the direction perpendicular to the arrangement direction, is made longer than that of the element PD(i-1) in the preceding position of the element PDi. For example, the lengths of the elements PDi-PDn are increased as the detection distances of the elements PDi-PDn increase.</p>
